adoption requirements adoption process Now adopt this animal! adoption requirements adoption process Thano has found his home! His story: For those who love big eyes, you'll fall in love with Thano! The little heartbreaker was rescued from a serious kennel fight in a Romanian shelter in the summer and traveled to a foster home in Germany. There, he's developing wonderfully! Unfortunately, we know nothing about his past – but thanks to our amazing animal welfare workers:innen in Romania, Thano was found and brought to safety. The sweet Thano is currently showing himself as a true model student: Walking on a leash works flawlessly, he follows the commands "sit" and "stay" very attentively, and Thano is already house-trained. He loves long walks, where he explores everything with his curious snout – he could easily be hired as a little detective 😉 – but be careful! Outside of his own four walls, he shows a prey drive that must always be kept in mind! The sweet mouse also loves to carry things and adores all kinds of hide-and-seek games. Thano gets along famously with other furred friends. Horses and cats are currently part of his friend circle. In short: Thano is a real magic dog! Car trips? No problem – Thano is happy to be chauffeured. Due to his size, he's not quite suitable as a jogging or cycling companion. Instead, he prefers to curl up in his cozy basket at night to dream about the adventures of the day. Are you hopelessly in love with our adorable Thano? Understandable! His travel bag is already packed – it includes his EU pet passport. Thano is microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, flea-treated, neutered, and can be adopted after a positive home visit. Many thanks to Carina! You named Thano! Another thank you goes to Leon S. and Carolin V., who have supported Thano with a monthly sponsorship! As of: 28.09.

Bist du unsterblich verliebt in unseren niedlichen Thano? Vielen Dank an Carina! Stand: 28.09.2025

About Thano

What life with Thano looks like

Thano is a medium-sized young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Thano, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Thano?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Thano on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Thano if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Thano already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Thano isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Thano and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
