Thelma

Mixed Breed · Female · Puppy

Thelma - young mixed-breed puppy is looking for a home Our Bulgarian partner animal shelter has recently taken in new puppies. Thelma arrived there with her five sisters and is now waiting to find a loving home or foster placement where she can start her life well. Thelma is a friendly, open and curious young dog. She is playful, social when interacting with other dogs and very people-oriented. She enjoys petting and approaches her environment with interest and typical puppy curiosity. She gets along well with humans and fellow dogs. For Thelma, we are looking for people who are willing to accompany a young dog through life with patience, time and love. She still needs to learn everything that a dog needs for everyday life - this includes house training, being left alone, driving in the car as well as safely getting to know new environmental influences. With clear, loving guidance and positive reinforcement, she will develop well and grow into a loyal companion. Thelma wants to be promoted age-appropriately and discover the world step by step with her humans. It is possible that she carries parts of a livestock guardian dog in herself. Therefore, interested parties should familiarize themselves with the breed-typical characteristics. A rural home with securely fenced garden would be particularly suitable for her. Who wants to give Thelma a home or accompany her as a foster placement on her way through life? Adopting an animal from a shelter always means taking on special responsibility and can also become a challenge. The dogs bring a backpack with past experiences or unlearned situations and need time to settle into their new lives. If you are seriously interested in adopting Thelma, please contact the responsible mediator of SALVA Hundehilfe. We would also be very happy about the provision of a foster placement.

About Thelma

What life with Thelma looks like

Thelma is a puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. in Germany.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Thelma, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Thelma?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Thelma on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Thelma if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Thelma already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Thelma isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Thelma and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
