Themba

Mixed Breed · Female · Adult · 4 years

Themba was incredibly lucky to be rescued at the last minute, along with other dogs, from the Cornetu kill shelter. Themba is an exceptionally loving, affectionate, and people-oriented female dog. She seems to soak up every form of affection. Now that Themba is safe, we are looking for a foster home for her. A foster home offers not only a safe environment but is also essential for preparing Themba for her forever home. In such a temporary home, Themba can learn what it means to be part of a family. At the same time, it allows us to better understand her personality and needs. This helps us enormously in finding the ideal permanent family for her, one that gives Themba the love and attention she deserves. Crucially, her foster family should be willing to invest time in showing Themba the world outside the shelter. This includes walks together, meeting new friends, and guiding her through difficulties in new situations to further develop her social skills. If you feel up to supporting Themba on her way to a new life, please get in touch with us. Our dogs travel dewormed, deflead, neutered, and with an EU pet passport. A Mediterranean rapid test is carried out in advance.

About Themba

What life with Themba looks like

Themba is an adult mixed breed dog waiting at Tierschutzverein SpecialDogs e.V. in Germany.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Dogs and cats typically leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with an EU pet passport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Themba, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Themba?: Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzverein SpecialDogs e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Themba on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Themba if I live in another country?: Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzverein SpecialDogs e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Themba already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?: Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Themba isn't the right fit?: Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzverein SpecialDogs e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Themba and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?: TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
