Adopt Thommy

Bengal · Male

Thommy is a friendly and affectionate tomcat. He came to us at the animal shelter because his owners moved and couldn't take him along. Thommy is used to having free access through a cat flap. He was very independent and spent a lot of time outside. When he was at home, though, he also wanted attention and cuddles. The neighborhood should not have too many cats or chickens. He probably hunted the chickens. At first, Thommy felt very stressed with us. By now, he has settled in wonderfully and enjoys daily cuddles. Small children, other animals, and small pets should not be part of the household. Health precautions: What vaccinations are necessary and what can I do to ensure my cat has a long and healthy life? This video provides an initial overview. Nutrition tips: Watch this video if you want to learn more about the proper nutrition for your cats. The video is meant to summarize the most important information. We are, of course, available for further information. This cat needs outdoor access.

About Thommy

What life with Thommy looks like

Thommy is a adult bengal cat waiting at Tierheim Hannover in Hannover.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Thommy, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Thommy?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim Hannover handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Thommy on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Thommy if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim Hannover will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Thommy already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Thommy isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim Hannover early rather than rehoming privately; they know Thommy and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
