Adopt Thor

Mixed Breed · Unknown · Puppy · 4 months

Our wonderfully mixed-breed male dog Thor with his trusting gaze is searching for his forever home. He was already given up to the animal shelter at the age of 2 months, together with his two brothers, and has been waiting ever since for his people who will show him what it means to be a family member, including having his own dog bed, and preferably a spot on the couch (he doesn’t need much space). With his shoulder height of about 65 cm and estimated weight of 23 kg, Thor is a sturdy and lively young pup. He is neutered, healthy, and – typical puppy – full of energy. As seen in the videos, he enjoys cuddles with his caregiver and even demands them. This is because he has never had any bad experiences with people. Thor is described as: energetic, silly, playful. A typical puppy, in other words. Part of that is playing and running around with his two brothers in the free run. For Thor, we are looking for active people who are ready to experience many adventures with this wonderful young pup. Of course, he will typically try to test his limits as a young pup. Therefore, a visit to dog training classes would certainly be beneficial for him, as he still has a lot to learn and wants to meet many doggy friends for playing and walks. This is a young, adolescent dog.

About Thor

What life with Thor looks like

Thor is a large puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Tierschutzverein Europa in München.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Thor, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Thor?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzverein Europa handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Thor on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Thor if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzverein Europa will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Thor already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Thor isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzverein Europa early rather than rehoming privately; they know Thor and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
