Adopt Thora

Mixed Breed · Female · Puppy · 5 months

May 1, 2026: Thora was allowed to travel to her German foster home. May 7, 2026: Thora is a young, beautiful, loving, and affectionate female dog who captivates with her open and curious nature. Typical of a young pup, she brings a lot of energy, loves to play, and explores her environment with great enthusiasm. Her nose is constantly in action. She learns incredibly fast and shows new progress every day, making her a great companion for active people. In everyday life, Thora already presents herself surprisingly reliably: After a final potty run in the garden, she sleeps quietly in her crate at night. She can also relax well during the day. She is on her way to being housebroken if she goes outside regularly. Putting on a harness and leash is a piece of cake, and she already runs nicely on the leash. She also masters car rides calmly and relaxed. Thora can be touched everywhere—whether ears, paws, or teeth—and shows herself to be cooperative and friendly. She now observes environmental stimuli like cars, cyclists, or pedestrians with a bit of distance. Also, encounters with other dogs on walks are always better with a bit of distance. In new or still unfamiliar situations, Thora currently reacts partially insecurely and needs a moment to get used to them. With increasing routine and more positive experiences in everyday life, she will quickly learn—she is an incredibly clever, smart puppy girl who quickly understands connections and develops excellently. Early progress shows how well she can build trust. In the garden, Thora is in her element: She finds mouse tracks particularly exciting, and she explores her surroundings with great perseverance and curiosity. She shows herself to be compatible with other dogs and cats, making her a versatile companion. Thora is still at the very beginning of her young life and must still learn the dog ABCs completely. The groundwork is already laid, but like with every young dog, consistency, patience, and perseverance are needed until solid routines develop. She brings incredible potential with her, wants to be challenged and supported, and seeks an active home where she is not just "along for the ride," but at the center. People who enjoy growing and learning together with her and showing her the world will find in Thora a loyal, smart, and lively companion. If you are currently on the lookout for a new furry family member and are aware that adoption means not only a lot of joy but also work and great responsibility, we look forward to your message. We foster nationwide.

About Thora

What life with Thora looks like

Thora is a large puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at ProTier e.V. in Germany.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Thora, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Thora?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. ProTier e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Thora on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Thora if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — ProTier e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Thora already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Thora isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with ProTier e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Thora and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
