adoption requirements adoption process Adopt this animal now! adoption requirements adoption process Thora has found her home! Her story: Who can give Thora a warm home? Thor's start in life was unfortunately not so beautiful. Found alone and full of lice by a bus driver at a bus stop, she was brought to us at the Puplic Shelter Bistrita. Unfortunately, there is not enough time to properly care for the animals in the shelter and to teach the puppies more human interaction. We wish so much that Thora could move into her new home soon, because winter is knocking on the door… The winter in Bistrita is very harsh compared to other places. During weather changes, temperatures can reach down to –10 degrees. This is barely tolerable for the dogs. The climate is even harder for puppies to endure. Thora is a super cute puppy, playful and very friendly to humans. The beautiful tricolor girl draws everyone in with her sly gaze. She gets along well with her fellow animals and can even get along with cats. Her new family should be aware that Thora has not yet experienced life in a loving family. She still needs to learn the whole puppy ABC and puberty is still ahead of her. Here, she needs people who can approach her with love and patience, and possibly also attend some positive dog training classes with her and forgive her one or two mishaps. Leash walking, house training, and being left alone are still foreign words to her. During puberty, she will surely test boundaries and may even forget some things she has learned. But once this phase is overcome, Thora will definitely be a great lifelong partner. Thora is microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and treated for fleas. She brings an EU pet passport with her and can be adopted after a positive foster home trial. We would also be very happy to have a foster home for the sweet mouse! Who will give her a loving forever home? Many thanks to Susanne! You named Thora. Date: 26.11.

Vielen Dank an Susanne! Du hast Thora Ihren Namen geschenkt. About Thora

What life with Thora looks like

Thora is a puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Thora, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Thora?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Thora on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Thora if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Thora already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Thora isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Thora and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
