Tic Tac

Female · Senior · 9 years

Tic Tac is a female dog who arrived from Southern Italy with a baggage full of fears and insecurities. Although a dog shelter may not be the ideal place to overcome such deep-seated fears, our little lady has made progress over time: she now goes for walks and enjoys her stroll, sniffing and analyzing the various smells she encounters along the way. 🐕‍🦺🌳 Tic tac, however, is still very shy towards humans. We are looking for a family willing to go through a long process of getting to know her, in order to earn her trust and with great patience help her discover that there is another world beyond the dog shelter's cage. Tic tac is suitable for living in an extra-urban environment, where she can take long walks in green areas in quiet places, because everything urban is unknown and difficult for Tic Tac to face. She definitely appreciates the company of male conspecifics, and the presence of a balanced dog would be a fundamental help and a true guide for her. 🐶 Also Tic Tac deserves a chance, don't you think? We are sure that somewhere there is a family that can help her come out of her shell, someone willing to respect her pace and her difficulties, but ready to show her that it is still possible to trust and discover together everything she has never been able to see so far. ✨ Tic Tac is waiting for you, she is ready to love! TIC TAC – dog shelter in Calderara di Reno (Bologna) Sex: Female. Size: Medium. Birth Date: 1/10/2017. Breed: Mixed-breed dog 📍 available for adoption in Bologna, province and Emilia Romagna. Requests outside the region are also considered SOLO if willing to go through a getting to know process in the dog shelter.

About Tic Tac

What life with Tic Tac looks like

Tic Tac is a medium-sized senior dog waiting at Fuori Le Zampe ODV in Bologna.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇮🇹Adopting from Italy

Italian canili require adopters to sign a stewardship contract (affido) and may retain the right to verify the animal's wellbeing post-adoption. Animals are chipped and sterilized before leaving (Legge 281/91). Public canili rifugio typically waive adoption fees.

Frequently asked

Adopting Tic Tac, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Tic Tac?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Fuori Le Zampe ODV handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Tic Tac on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Tic Tac if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Fuori Le Zampe ODV will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Tic Tac already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Tic Tac isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Fuori Le Zampe ODV early rather than rehoming privately; they know Tic Tac and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (IT). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
