Mixed Breed · Female · Senior · 13 years

Breed: European Longhair Color: Tortoiseshell Gender: female Spayed: yes Born approx: 2013 Special Needs/Diseases: Hyperthyroidism Single Princess At the animal shelter since: 18.07.2025 Shelly is looking for a loving home Shelly was found in Eggstätt at the beginning of May and was allowed to stay with her finders for two months initially. Unfortunately, they could not continue to care for her during their vacation, and also no owner could be found. Therefore, the beautiful female cat was brought to us at the animal shelter. A hyperthyroidism was diagnosed in Shelly. Therefore, she needs medication twice a day and regular check-ups with the veterinarian at the beginning, until she is well regulated. Shelly is a very cuddly cat who shows her affection gladly, but also clearly signals when she wants her privacy. Therefore, we are hoping for a home without other cats for her. Too energetic or very young children should not live in the household either. We are looking for a nice place for Shelly as an apartment cat with a secured balcony, so that she can enjoy the sun and fresh air. Free roaming is unfortunately not possible due to her medication. If you would like to give Shelly a loving home where she will be spoiled with patience and attention, we look forward to your message! About Shelly

What life with Shelly looks like

Shelly is a senior mixed breed cat waiting at Tierschutzverein Rosenheim in Rosenheim.

Senior cats are the gentlest house guests: predictable, mostly silent, and grateful for a sunny windowsill. Older cats often have minor dental or kidney issues — keep an eye on water intake and weight. Many sleep eighteen hours a day and want no part of any drama.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Shelly, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Shelly?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzverein Rosenheim handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Shelly on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Shelly if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzverein Rosenheim will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Shelly already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Shelly isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzverein Rosenheim early rather than rehoming privately; they know Shelly and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
