Tierson
Mixed Breed · Male · Senior · 16 years
Tiersen, (known to his friends as "Tiz") is a very handsome German Shorthaired Pointer. He will be 16yrs old in July and is looking for a new home due to a change in his family's circumstances. He has been a much loved pet since a puppy and his owner now needs him to go to the very best of homes where he can be spoilt and loved as he always has been. He currently lives in Swansea, South Wales. Tiz has only ever lived as an only dog, however he is non aggressive with dogs he meets out and about, so it's possible he could share his home with a doggy chum. He has lived quite happily alongside a cat and they got on well, even sharing the same bed ! Tiz has been brought up living with older children and has been a gentle and loving chap with them. Even visiting toddlers have not phased him. If he has had enough, he will just take himself off for some quiet time elsewhere in the house and has never snapped. Tiz is still very active for his age. He adores his walks and currently gets a 1 hr walk in the morning. We are told he could go on for longer if you wished ! Traveling well in the car, Tiz loves a car journey and will even keep you company on trains and buses ! Tiz prefers not to be left alone for long at home. 1 hour is acceptable for him and he likes to be in a small room, with his water and the TV or radio on for company. He may bark to begin with, but usually calms down. Perhaps you work from home and Tiz could be your workspace buddy ? Tiz's favourite things are walkies, sniffing around the garden, sleeping and cuddles. He is not into toys or entertainment these days. He loves a treat (marrow bone biscuits or gravy bones). He also loves to check out who is in the house, if there are visitors, but once he knows, will generally retire to his bed Tiz is generally a chilled out boy. Fireworks used to scare him, but it's thought that nowadays he can't really hear them when he is indoors. Health issues – Tiz has a summertime allergy – usually May – September which the vet thinks is caused by something in the grass. For this he has a 5.4 mg Apoquel tablet daily, hidden in his morning food. This stops him from excessive licking and creating 'hot spots' on his paws. He also suffers flatulence, mainly in the evening. Tiz's vet is not concerned about this and puts it down to his age. Avoiding an afternoon walk seems to help manage it. Additionally he has a regular monthly wormer and three monthly flea treatment. Tiz is not neutered. Tiz maybe an elderly chap, but he is such a darling that just wants a loving and doting home in which to spend his twilight years. Could that be with you ? Tiz is being rehomed privately by his owner who has confirmed she will take Tiz back if for any reason his new home dos not work out for any reason. Prospective own era will be home checked. Oldies Club suggests you read our article Questions for Adopters which is written to help people who are planning to adopt a dog from a private owner rather than a rescue. ———————————————– If you have the perfect home for wonderful Tiz please contact his owner as follows.
