Tiggo

Mixed Breed Cat · Male · Adult · 6 years

Tiggo is a very sensitive and often panicked male cat who has a hard time with changes. He needs a lot of time to settle in and build trust. Patience is the most important thing with him - but when he feels safe, he may "turn on the switch" and stop being afraid. He is a gentle, loving cat who feels most comfortable in a quiet and stable environment. Hectic or frequent changes would overwhelm him, so there should be no children in the household. We can imagine Tiggo living with a well-socialized, quiet second cat, as a companion animal can give him security. We are looking for a quiet, rural home for Tiggo, with outdoor access through a cat door without traffic and away from train tracks. Who will give this sensitive cat a loving home with a lot of patience and understanding? If you are interested in Tiggo, please fill out the application form. Someone from the cat area will then contact you and be happy to answer any questions/uncertainties. About Tiggo

What life with Tiggo looks like

Tiggo is a small adult mixed breed cat cat waiting at Berner Tierzentrum in Switzerland.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇨🇭Adopting from Switzerland

Swiss shelters require a home visit (Platzkontrolle) and proof of suitable accommodation. Cantons each have their own additional dog-keeping requirements (e.g. SKN training in some areas). Animals leave sterilized and chipped.

Frequently asked

Adopting Tiggo, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Tiggo?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Berner Tierzentrum handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Tiggo on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Tiggo if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Berner Tierzentrum will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Tiggo already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Tiggo isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Berner Tierzentrum early rather than rehoming privately; they know Tiggo and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
