Tillmann

Mixed Breed · Male · Young · 2 years

Tillmann is a 2-year-old dog from the Suraia shelter, a place where dogs live in terrible conditions, isolated, mistreated, and undernourished. He has scars, not just visible ones, but also emotional ones from losing trust. He is now safe in our private shelter in Fantanele, where he has a safe place, food, and is no longer mistreated. However, a small wooden hut can never replace a real home. It can be a start, a place to breathe, but it cannot give the warmth, patience, and security that a dog like Tillmann needs to truly belong. When approaching his kennel, the otherwise friendly Tillmann reacts with great uncertainty. He often freezes, sometimes retreats. He has learned that proximity means danger and that it's better to stay unnoticed to survive. Yet, he already shows small but important signs: His gaze does not avoid. This cautious approach may seem insignificant to many, but it means a lot to Tillmann, showing that despite everything, he does not close himself off. This is Tillmann's chance: With his 2 years, he can still learn a lot and develop further. Even if many things are difficult for him today, it does not mean that it will always be so. That's why we are looking for an experienced person with a heart to take him where he is now. Someone who teaches him the basics of dog behavior and provides adequate physical and mental stimulation. A quiet, rural home without pressure, with reliable structures and the necessary understanding would be a great gift for him. An exact measurement is still pending, but we estimate Tillmann's shoulder height to be about 45-50 cm. What genes are in the handsome, bright male with the distinctive spots on his nose remains speculation. Optically, some things can be assumed, and a few parts of a livestock guardian dog in his extensive family tree are possible. We have not been able to test his compatibility with other dogs. However, Tillmann shows himself to be calm and unobtrusive when dealing with his cage mate. After a positive preliminary check and the assumption of a deposit, Tillmann travels neutered, chipped, vaccinated, dewormed, de-fleaed, and with an EU pet passport. Who gives our Tillmann a great home or at least a foster home, so that his sad eyes can finally shine? Thank you, Andrea R., for taking on his sponsorship. Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt dieses Tier anfragen! Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt diesen Hund anfragen! Inzwischen lebt Tillmann in unserem privaten Shelter in Fantanele. Stand: 22.08.2026

About Tillmann

What life with Tillmann looks like

Tillmann is a large young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Tillmann, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Tillmann?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Tillmann on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Tillmann if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Tillmann already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Tillmann isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Tillmann and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
