Timmy &#8211

Mixed Breed · Male · Young · 3 years

I am male, neutered, microchipped, and born in 2022. I have been waiting since June 2023 for a new home. My caretakers say about me: Timmy came to us with his brother Tommy from a friendly organization to increase their chances of being placed. Both are half-wild and half-juvenile, stranded in animal welfare and require patience and empathy. Timmy is a bit braver and more curious. It's a joy to observe him when he feels unobserved, as his explorer spirit is sparked and he can't get enough of discovering new things. He often drops by to see Tommy, so it would be a dream to place them together. Until the adjustment is complete, both should live in a clean, suitable for apartment living environment. A quieter household with structure is desirable. Under fellow animals, Timmy especially loves being around Tommy. Who would like to be part of Timmy's "Jugend forscht" project and accompany him through a lifetime as a cat?

Besonders Tommy. Wer möchte Timmys Projekt “ Jugend forscht“ gern ein Katzenleben lang begleiten?

About Timmy &#8211

What life with Timmy &#8211 looks like

Timmy &#8211 is a medium-sized young adult mixed breed cat waiting at Tierheim Schkortitz in Grimma.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Timmy &#8211, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Timmy &#8211?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim Schkortitz handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Timmy &#8211 on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Timmy &#8211 if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim Schkortitz will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Timmy &#8211 already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Timmy &#8211 isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim Schkortitz early rather than rehoming privately; they know Timmy &#8211 and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
