adoption requirements adoption process Now request this animal! adoption requirements adoption process Timon has found his home! His story: Rüstiger Opi seeks a warm spot as a solo prince. ❤️ As a little three-legged, superloving, Romanian Casanova, he still wants to experience a lot. “At 66 years, life begins…” could be his motto! After all, he has wasted enough years behind bars in the bleak, monotonous shelter life. Timon is extremely enthusiastic about people of all ages. He already knows children and finds them very charming. Therefore, we can certainly imagine him in a family with children, after a prior meet-and-greet. However, what he doesn’t particularly like are his male fellow animals. Female companionship actually decides the matter. And that’s why we are looking for a solo spot for Timon, where he can fully unfold himself and call all the treats and cuddles his own. He deserves that, finds he does! And we, of course, too 😀 But what is certainly possible with Timon are walks with other dogs or social walks in dog training classes. So you won’t feel lonely if you adopt the charming three-legged. He is easily distractable in dog encounters and is also very well accustomed to wearing a muzzle, which he can carry without a problem. We also believe that Timon can become even better socialized with good, positively reinforced dog training. He hasn’t been in Germany for long and hasn’t had many learning opportunities yet. Cats should not live in the household. Timon was found on the street in Romania with a severe fracture on his hind leg. Our animal rescuer Simona took him in and had him treated by a doctor. Timon then lived for almost 2 years in a private shelter under very unsavory conditions. Timon’s injured hind leg had to be amputated, but he copes with it wonderfully and is agile on his three legs. Timon is estimated to be around 10 years old and weighs about 17 kg at a height of around 50 cm. We wish Timon a loving home that shows him how wonderful life is. Timon will enrich every family with his open and cheerful nature. For Timon, the best would be a ground-floor home with a garden where he can spend the next years. Infatuated with the handsome three-legged? Then contact us! 🐾❤️ Our Timon is already neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and flea-treated. He brings his EU pet passport and can be adopted after a positive match. Many thanks to Catrin S.! You have given Timon his name and thus an identity! A big thank you also goes to Barbara K., who has taken on a monthly sponsorship for Timon. We are also very grateful to Doreen from www.lillyfotografie.de for the great photos of Timon at the Barkdate. As of: 10.01.

Stand: 10.01.2025

About Timon

What life with Timon looks like

Timon is a large senior mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Timon, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Timon?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Timon on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Timon if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Timon already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Timon isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Timon and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
