Adopt TIMY

Male · Senior · 13 years

TIMY was found in December tied to a post near the shelter. The poor dog arrived with a large mass around the anus and full of fleas. After several veterinary exams, Timy finally underwent surgery for a perineal hernia which required a lot of care from his foster family. Today, Timy is much better! It's time to find him his family to spend his remaining days peacefully. However, he has a heart murmur and needs lifelong treatment. Regarding food, he needs a specific diet. He is a lovely dog who needs company and attention. He loves scratches and shows affection towards his human. He is very greedy, so much so that he doesn't like to share, which is why placing him without other animals is preferable. Timy is a gentle and pleasant dog, he can live with respectful children. We are looking for a present and caring family to welcome our beautiful Timy. MESSAGE FROM HIS FOSTER FAMILY: "Little Timy was neglected and cruelly abandoned... Yes! But today he is doing very well and was very brave and resilient. Timy is happy, playful, greedy and loves walks! He loves humans, young or old, and is always ready for cuddles and a good nap next to his human. Absences go well, he is either lying in his bed or he greets us at the door. Timy is housebroken and doesn't destroy anything. So yes, not everything is perfect, because Timy is a big sentimental and a bit jealous. He would like to keep his humans all to himself! He can be selective with other animals: he has started to accept the house cat and it's much better with our second dog, but a family where he would be the only one loved would suit him better. However, it's amazing with our rabbit, it's true love! He goes to see him, sniffs him with infinite tenderness and even drinks from his water bowl. It's crazy, but that's Timy: he has chosen his best friend! Little Timy deserves a family who will love him after all his journey. Timy is a small size and his treatment (which I understand can be scary financially), isn't really, in fact! I hope for him a loving family to whom we could pass on the baton smoothly. Thank you!"

Merci !"

About TIMY

What life with TIMY looks like

TIMY is a senior dog waiting at SPA Colmar in France.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇫🇷Adopting from France

French refuges follow the SPA framework: adopters sign a cession contract that includes sterilization, vaccinations, microchip identification, and rabies passport. Fees are typically €150–€300. Many refuges work with rescue transport partners for cross-border placements.

Frequently asked

Adopting TIMY, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about TIMY?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. SPA Colmar handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw TIMY on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt TIMY if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — SPA Colmar will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is TIMY already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if TIMY isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with SPA Colmar early rather than rehoming privately; they know TIMY and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (FR). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
