Tine & Tobi

European Shorthair · Male · Young · 1 year

Although they arrived at the animal shelter separately, they definitely belong together. Tine and Tobi were observed living wild for an extended period alongside many other cats before they could be safely brought in. Within the cat group, it became clear that Tine, in particular, has had bad experiences with other cats and doesn’t get along well with fellow animals—except with her Tobi. Here at the animal shelter, we’ve reunited them, and their bond remains just as strong as ever. Tine especially adores Tobi and looks to him for guidance. During the day, the two still hide in separate spots. At night, however, they play, romp wildly, and cuddle together. Whenever Tobi approaches the food buffet, Tine darts over and quickly snuggles up to him. It’s no coincidence that the two look so similar to each other—and to many other cats here at the animal shelter. The original outdoor cat group likely included Tine and Tobi’s parents and siblings. Upon closer inspection, the pair can be told apart: Tobi is noticeably larger, and the white markings on his face differ from hers. Like many formerly feral cats, Tine and Tobi have so far spent most of their time being nearly invisible and aren’t exactly thrilled about human interaction. We’ll keep you updated on how they’re progressing and what improvements they hopefully make soon. In any case, they are not suitable for first-time cat owners or households with children. Once they’ve had a long acclimatization period in their new home and are eventually ready, they should be allowed outdoor access—together.

About Tine & Tobi

What life with Tine & Tobi looks like

Tine & Tobi is a young adult european shorthair cat waiting at Tierheim Bonn in Bonn.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Tine & Tobi, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Tine & Tobi?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim Bonn handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Tine & Tobi on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Tine & Tobi if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim Bonn will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Tine & Tobi already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Tine & Tobi isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim Bonn early rather than rehoming privately; they know Tine & Tobi and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
