Tinker

Mixed Breed · Female · Young · 3 years

Tinker could live with children aged 10+. She would like to be the only pet in the home and will require outdoor access. Tinker is a wonderful little lady who settled straight in here at the shelter. She is a confident girl who loves cuddling with her human friends, she’ll often climb onto our laps and give us plenty of headbutts! She can often be found snoozing under her heat lamp or sitting patiently waiting for her tea! Tinker enjoyed exploring the outside world in her previous home and so she would like an environment that can offer her some safe outdoor space, as well as lots of cosy places in the home and laps to curl up on! She is a laid-back lady who loves being made a fuss of. We don’t know if Tinker has lived with children previously, but based on her behaviour in our care, we feel she would be comfortable living with cat-savvy children who can respect her boundaries. She has shown an aversion to other cats, so she would be happiest as the only animal in the home. Tinker has been an absolute pleasure to get to know and spend time with during her stay with us. She is such a sweet little soul and has so much love to give. She so deserves to be spoilt rotten in her forever home, we have no doubt she will make a wonderful addition to her lucky family.

About Tinker

What life with Tinker looks like

Tinker is a young adult mixed breed cat waiting at Newcastle Dog and Cat Shelter in Newcastle.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Tinker, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Tinker?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Newcastle Dog and Cat Shelter handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Tinker on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Tinker if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Newcastle Dog and Cat Shelter will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Tinker already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Tinker isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Newcastle Dog and Cat Shelter early rather than rehoming privately; they know Tinker and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
