Tobi

Mixed Breed · Male · Adult · 8 years

Tobi, born in 2018 and about 50 cm tall, is a calm, self-assured and reserved male who must have experienced a great deal already. Like so many dogs in Romania, he too was abandoned by his "rescuer." We therefore cannot say anything certain about his background, but it presumably resembles that of many other wonderful dogs there: perhaps he was abandoned, perhaps caught by dog catchers and brought to a public shelter or even to euthanasia, or simply given up once he was no longer needed. But none of that matters anymore. What matters to us is Tobi's future. Tobi carries a quiet strength within him. He is not one to push himself forward or demand attention loudly. He observes first, stays composed, and seems almost a little wise. His reserve is not fear; it is more a cautious weighing up, a "let me first see whether you mean well by me." And when he notices that he is being met with kindness, he opens up quietly but honestly. Update visit August 2026: Tobi remains a self-assured, friendly male who is opening up more and more. Unfortunately, he is somewhat under the thumb of his kennel mate Lola, who all but forbids him close contact with people. Even so, Tobi clearly shows how much he seeks closeness and how much potential lies within him. It would be wonderful if he finally got a chance! Update visit February 2026: Tobi is strikingly beautiful even in the depths of winter and somehow appears well cared for. He is not a dog who throws himself around the visitor's neck, but he tolerates approach and does not run away. He can be motivated well with food. He currently lives with the "fetching Lola" and shares the kennel with her harmoniously. The two get along well, which shows how social and balanced Tobi is. He is a dog who loves calm, values clear structures, and wants to orient himself toward people who give him a sense of security. For our beautiful Tobi we are looking for experienced, empathetic people who appreciate his calm nature. People who give him time to settle in and who show him that his life no longer has to consist of disappointments. A foster placement is just as possible as a loving forever home where he can finally arrive. Tobi is neutered and will be vaccinated, microchipped, and placed with a protection contract after a positive pre-screening. General note about our animals: Our dogs in Romania are visited regularly so that we can reassess their behavior and development again and again. These personal impressions help us greatly in conveying as accurate a picture as possible of each individual dog. Nevertheless, we would like to point out that a dog in a new environment, with new people, new routines, and new impressions, may show itself differently. This is completely normal and part of every process of change. Many dogs even open up faster in a home and show sides that were not visible at the shelter at all. Our assessments are therefore based on current observations but are no guarantee of every behavior in a new environment. They are meant to offer orientation and show how the dog presents itself in the shelter, and what potential lies within it. We are convinced that with patience, understanding, and a loving environment, every dog can find its way and continue to develop positively.

About Tobi

What life with Tobi looks like

Tobi is an adult mixed breed dog waiting at Vierbeiner in Not e.V. in Germany.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Dogs and cats typically leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with an EU pet passport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Tobi, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Tobi?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Vierbeiner in Not e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Tobi on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Tobi if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Vierbeiner in Not e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Tobi already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Tobi isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Vierbeiner in Not e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Tobi and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
