adoption requirements adoption process Now request this animal! adoption requirements adoption process Now request this dog! Tobi has found a home! His story: Tobi is a ca. 5-year-old, approximately 40 cm tall, wiry-built male dog with beautifully streamlined fur and charming floppy ears – a real looker with a special presence. His past was not easy: Tobi comes from Romania, was likely passed around multiple times, and ended up in the shelter. This time has left its mark – his tail had to be partially amputated and he suffered from a serious dermatitis (which is now barely noticeable). In his foster home, Tobi finally found a place to settle – and his development has been impressive. Initially, he meets new people with caution and skepticism, but he is curious. Once he has developed trust, he bonds closely with his primary caregiver and is highly attuned to her. However, he can also already settle well on his own, and being alone (currently still in the company of his four-legged companion) is already going well. He has also successfully managed his first vacation: Together with his foster family, he was at the Baltic Sea and showed himself to be adaptable, relaxed, and practical – he could easily accept new environments and routines. Tobi now lives together with a large, sovereign female dog as a "step-sister" and gets along well with her. However, for his future home, he would likely feel most comfortable as a single dog, as he takes his people very much to heart – but in a charming and loving way! A second dog is not ruled out in principle, as Tobi is a very social fellow animal. Tobi learns quickly, works well with structure and guidance, and reacts sensitively to commands. Basic commands like sit, come, and leash control are already mastered safely. He is a funny chatterbox with whom one can have a lot of fun, and who enriches his everyday life with humor! However, he is not a dog who always needs action – he also loves to snuggle in his cushion or relax with his people on the sofa. Due to the partial amputation of his tail, Tobi has no good body feeling in the rear area. Currently, he needs small physiotherapy sessions of about 10 minutes daily (twice daily would be ideal, but is not necessary). These exercises can be easily performed at home and he does them very cooperatively. He is also currently in medical treatment, and more information would be gladly given. A rural environment would suit him very well, as there are fewer stimuli there. Children are not a disqualification criterion – Tobi currently lives with children –, provided they know responsible dog handling, and cats are also no problem for the little dream dog. He would be very happy about visitors at his foster home, even though there is a great risk of a shock love! This special boy is neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, treated for fleas, and has his EU pet passport in his luggage. Many thanks, Summer Time, for taking over the naming patronage of Tobi. As of: 29.01.

Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt dieses Tier anfragen! Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt diesen Hund anfragen! Stand: 29.01.2026

About Tobi

What life with Tobi looks like

Tobi is a medium-sized adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Tobi, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Tobi?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Tobi on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Tobi if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Tobi already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Tobi isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Tobi and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
