adoption requirements adoption process Adopt this animal now! adoption requirements adoption process Adopt this dog now! Tobis Story begins where many sad stories start: on the streets of Romania. Nobody knows exactly where he came from or what he has already experienced. Maybe he was separated from his mother too soon and simply abandoned. Maybe he never got to experience what it feels like to have a safe home. One can imagine that he had to fend for himself day by day – searching for food, shelter, and a safe place to sleep. Perhaps he learned to be cautious, perhaps he had to endure cold, hunger, or hide from dangers. But Tobi was lucky. He was rescued from the street and allowed to stay in our foster home in Baia Mare. There he currently lives in an outdoor area, together with a pack of dogs. Although he is safe there, this can never replace what a real home means. Just like a young dog like Tobi, he should not grow up alone but rather be allowed to discover the world with people who love and accompany him. Tobi is a puppy of about 4-5 months old, who is expected to grow into a medium-sized dog. His short, dense chestnut fur gives him a warm and friendly appearance. His cute ears stand up attentively, giving him a particularly lively and curious expression. A little caramel bonbon – a completely adorable little guy. Character-wise, Tobi shows the typical behavior of a puppy: playful, curious, and open. He gets along well with humans and also with his fellow animals. Inside him lies the carefree zest for life of a young dog ready to explore the world, even if he hasn't had the chance to learn much so far. When Tobi moves into his new home, everything will be new and unfamiliar to him. Everyday things that are second nature to us must be learned step by step. House-training, leash manners, everyday noises – all of this will be new territory for him. Therefore, Tobi needs people who can stand by him with patience, empathy, and a loving yet consistent upbringing. Attending a positively working dog training class would help him gain security, build trust, and grow together with his people. Of course, as a puppy, Tobi also has a great need for meaningful mental stimulation. Playful learning, small training sessions, exploration tours, and age-appropriate engagement are important so that he can develop physically and mentally well. Always make sure not to overwhelm him but to give him the time to settle in at his own pace. Soon, Tobi will also enter puberty – a phase where many young dogs start testing boundaries, questioning things, and sometimes "forgetting" what they've learned. This is completely normal but can also be challenging. Therefore, it's even more important that his future people accompany him lovingly during this time, provide him with orientation, and work consistently but fairly with him. We wish Tobi a loving, empathetic home where he can finally belong. People who find him cute but are also willing to take responsibility and accompany him on his journey through life. A home where he experiences safety, our shelter and genuine affection – and where a little street dog can become a faithful lifelong companion Tobi and you, would that be?. This animal is vaccinated. This animal is microchipped.

Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt dieses Tier anfragen! Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt diesen Hund anfragen! Tobi hatte keinen einfachen Start ins Leben.

About Tobi

What life with Tobi looks like

Tobi is a large puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Tobi, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Tobi?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Tobi on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Tobi if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Tobi already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Tobi isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Tobi and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
