Toby

Beagle · Male · Young · 3 years

Toby is a handsome three-year-old Beagle who came into our care as a stray. Sadly, this means we don’t know anything about his life before arriving at the centre, but we’ve been enjoying getting to know him and discovering his lovely personality. Toby can be a little nervous when meeting new people and may need some time to feel comfortable. Once he gets to know you, though, he quickly comes out of his shell and becomes a confident, friendly and affectionate boy who loves fuss, cuddles and attention. When Toby is happy, his tail is rarely still! Once he feels comfortable, his fun-loving side really comes through and he can be wonderfully bouncy, playful and sometimes a little boisterous. He also enjoys playing with his toys and would love a home where he can have plenty of opportunities for play and activity. One thing Toby does find difficult is being left on his own. In the kennel environment, he can become vocal and stressed when there is nobody around, so he would benefit from having someone at home for most of the day while he settles and gradually builds his confidence with being alone. Toby is looking for an active and loving home with someone who can spend plenty of time with him. Toby is a fun, affectionate and playful boy with lots of personality. He may need a little patience at first while he gets to know his new surroundings, but once he feels safe and settled, he has so much love and companionship to give.

About Toby

What life with Toby looks like

Toby is a young adult beagle dog waiting at RSPCA Radcliffe Animal Centre in United Kingdom.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Toby, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Toby?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. RSPCA Radcliffe Animal Centre handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Toby on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Toby if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — RSPCA Radcliffe Animal Centre will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Toby already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Toby isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with RSPCA Radcliffe Animal Centre early rather than rehoming privately; they know Toby and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
