Adopt Toffie

Male

I was dropped off at the animal shelter together with five other dwarf rabbits for private reasons. Now we are all looking for a new home, but we don't necessarily have to move out together. What's important for us is that we can move in with at least two other rabbits or already existing fellow animals. As social animals, we need the proximity of at least one other rabbit. Here at the animal shelter, we are all very approachable and curious. We even let ourselves be stroked, and the occasional one might even be picked up. Unfortunately, I had serious dental issues when I arrived at the animal shelter. Now that I've had a molar removed, I can finally eat pain-free. Still, my teeth need regular check-ups, as my other molar no longer has an opposing tooth to rub against. You can come and visit me. Name: Toffie Number: Male Born: approx. 01.03. This animal was surrendered to the shelter.

About Toffie

What life with Toffie looks like

Toffie is a small adult rabbit waiting at Tierschutzverein Wunstorf und Umgebung von 1934 e.V. in Wunstorf.

Rabbits are social animals — most shelters recommend adopting them in bonded pairs rather than alone. They need fresh hay daily, several hours of out-of-cage time, and rabbit-safe spaces to explore. They live eight to twelve years, longer than many people expect.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Toffie, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Toffie?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzverein Wunstorf und Umgebung von 1934 e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Toffie on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Toffie if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzverein Wunstorf und Umgebung von 1934 e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Toffie already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most rabbits on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Toffie isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzverein Wunstorf und Umgebung von 1934 e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Toffie and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
