Toit - 6 ano(s) e

Male · Kitten · 2 months

Toit is a shy kitten, but extremely playful. We believe that with time, patience, love and lots of play, he will become a more confident kitten. He gets along very well with other cats. Toit is FIV positive. Toit is now looking for a family that will cherish him for the rest of his long life. It is a feline immunodeficiency virus, or "slow virus," making the immune system of a cat infected with FIV weaker. FIV is transmitted from cat to cat through deep bites (through fights) and blood transfusions. FIV is not transmitted through sharing the litter box, food, water or playing and cuddling. Since cats may fight for three main reasons - food, territory and mating - it is important that the FIV+ cat is spayed or neutered and lives in a harmonious environment. Although there is no specific treatment for FIV, it is important to keep these cats vaccinated, feed them with good quality food and provide them with good veterinary care. An FIV+ cat can live a normal, long and healthy life. Obviously, there is no guarantee that an FIV+ cat will not get sick at some point in its life... but this guarantee does not exist for any cat, whether it is FIV+ or not. FIV should not be a sentence or a stigma that prevents absolutely lovely cats from being adopted! If you would like to adopt a cat, you are a responsible person, you have thought about the commitment you take on when you adopt an animal (to give it love, good living conditions and veterinary care) why not adopt an FIV+ cat? Come to the Animal Protection Union to meet our FIV+ cats! We are sure you will fall in love with these chubby, cheerful and eager to have a home cats!

About Toit - 6 ano(s) e

What life with Toit - 6 ano(s) e looks like

Toit - 6 ano(s) e is a small puppy/kitten cat waiting at União Zoófila in Lisboa.

Kittens are tiny chaos engines for about six months and then mellow rapidly. They need two scheduled feedings, a litter box per cat plus one extra, and somewhere high to climb. Spay/neuter happens around six months — most shelters arrange this before adoption.

Note from the shelter: FIV positive - requires careful management and regular veterinary care

🇵🇹Adopting from Portugal

Portuguese rescues coordinate extensively with European rescue networks for cross-border placements, especially for galgos and podencos. Sterilization, vaccinations, and microchip ID are standard. Adoption fees typically cover the full vet workup.

Frequently asked

Adopting Toit - 6 ano(s) e, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Toit - 6 ano(s) e?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. União Zoófila handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Toit - 6 ano(s) e on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Toit - 6 ano(s) e if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — União Zoófila will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Toit - 6 ano(s) e already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Toit - 6 ano(s) e isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with União Zoófila early rather than rehoming privately; they know Toit - 6 ano(s) e and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PT). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
