TOKIO

Pomeranian · Female · Puppy · 4 months

Breed: Dwarf Pinscher / light beige Alter: October 28, 2021 Updated: June 9, 2026 Female dog TOKIO shows herself to be friendly, easy-going, cheerful, energetic, and attentive at our shelter. She is typically a little bouncy 😉 She gets along well with other social dogs. Basic obedience isn’t much of a strong point, but TOKIO could still learn a lot. Her leash handling also needs improvement. According to her previous owners, she often whines during car rides, she’s not a fan of clipping her nails, and she shows fear during thunderstorms and fireworks. Her coat requires regular grooming. As she has a sensitive stomach, attention must be paid to her feeding, as she doesn’t tolerate all types of food well. TOKIO needs varied walks and should also be encouraged with activities like tracking and hide-and-seek, depending on what brings her joy or fun, but not to the point of overexertion, as sufficient rest periods are very important for a dog’s well-being. TOKIO needs a consistent, but fair, gentle handling and clear rules. A good, suitable dog training class would be beneficial. She lived until recently in a family with larger children and other dogs. Due to private reasons and being overwhelmed by Tokyo’s character traits, she was surrendered to us. She originally came from a private breeding in Germany and arrived at her previous owners as a puppy. For the lively and agile TOKIO, we are looking for a wonderful home with people who have a lot of time. Although TOKIO is one of the smaller dogs, she must be treated and encouraged in a dog-friendly manner. We only place TOKIO with people who can take her to work or who are very homebound. A house or apartment with a well-secured garden or outdoor space would be nice, but it doesn’t have to be present. She is not suitable for small children. The new owners should also bring some dog experience. Share your interest in a pet with us via email and include the completed questionnaire for the respective animal type. You can find the questionnaire >>> HERE. Do you have a question or want general advice? Call us at Fr. 1.20/Min. for Tierschutz work ATs. This animal can be anxious in unfamiliar situations.

Rasse: Zwergspitz / beige-hellbraun Alter: 28. Oktober 2021 Aktualisiert: 9.

About TOKIO

What life with TOKIO looks like

TOKIO is a small puppy/kitten pomeranian dog waiting at Aargauischer Tierschutzverein ATs in Zug (Allenwinden & Neuheim).

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇨🇭Adopting from Switzerland

Swiss shelters require a home visit (Platzkontrolle) and proof of suitable accommodation. Cantons each have their own additional dog-keeping requirements (e.g. SKN training in some areas). Animals leave sterilized and chipped.

Frequently asked

Adopting TOKIO, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about TOKIO?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Aargauischer Tierschutzverein ATs handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw TOKIO on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt TOKIO if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Aargauischer Tierschutzverein ATs will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is TOKIO already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if TOKIO isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Aargauischer Tierschutzverein ATs early rather than rehoming privately; they know TOKIO and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
