Adopt Toni

Labrador Retriever · Male · Senior · 9 years

Toni ID No.: 981678 Breed: Labrador-/Kelpie-mixed breed Age: approx. 06/2015 Sex: male Shoulder height: 56 cm Neutered: Yes Location: Marbella/Spain Inquiry form The handsome Toni (56 cm, approx. 30 kg), also called Tatoo, is a truly wonderful dog who has been waiting far too long—over 7 years—for a home of his own. He could stand to lose a little weight and isn’t quite as sprightly anymore—but he still enjoys life to the fullest. Toni was found in Marbella/Spain in June 2017 and brought to the animal shelter Triple A. He finally had the great fortune to move to a Spanish foster home in spring 2024. They describe him as follows: Toni is a rather calm fellow who lives easily in the house and can be left alone well. He loves short walks. He seeks closeness to people and enjoys being petted. Toni gets along with other dogs—though with male dogs, it works better with non-dominant fellow animals. And a little special note: Toni really loves oranges—see video 😉 Toni has almost certainly had a home before, as he knows basic commands like "sit" and seems well-behaved. His new family should build on this foundation and continue working with him. Toni needs clear leadership and, at the same time, people who give him plenty of affection and love. He needs close bonding with his humans and should absolutely be fully integrated into everyday family life. Toni is neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, and holds an EU pet passport. For travel arrangements, he has been tested for Mediterranean diseases, dewormed, and treated for fleas. So, where are the people who would like to give our Toni a few more beautiful years? We sincerely thank Astrid Dethlefs, who has taken on a sponsorship for Toni. Vaccinations: Yes Mediterranean disease check: Yes Microchip: No Known illnesses: None Suitable as a companion dog: No Adoption fee: By arrangement Contact person: Jana Bolduan Email:

About Toni

What life with Toni looks like

Toni is a large senior labrador retriever dog waiting at Helfende Hände e.V. in Germany.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Toni, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Toni?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Helfende Hände e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Toni on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Toni if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Helfende Hände e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Toni already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Toni isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Helfende Hände e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Toni and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
