adoption requirements adoption process Now adopt this animal! adoption requirements adoption process Toni has found a home! His story: Three little heartbreakers are on the lookout for a home. Toni, Dodge, and Ponti came to us, like many of our dogs, without a history. Toni is a charming little guy who not only looks beautiful but also has a fantastic personality. Toni is a happy little puppy who can play for hours with his fellow animals. At first, he seems a bit shy, but soon he warms up and enjoys being spoiled. He attentively observes his little world, ready to discover the big wide world with the right people by his side. Whether cats could be part of his world, we don't know. Toni is likely a German Shepherd-Mix. While his two brothers look almost identical at first glance, Toni is the more lively type, which does not make him any less cute. When fully grown, he will be medium to large. German Shepherds are known to be curious, intelligent, confident, brave, and vigilant. But they are also obedient, loyal, very focused, and sometimes a bit stubborn. As cute as the little Toni is, he is not an easy-to-train puppy and is not for "boring," short walks. German Shepherds want a purpose. Therefore, we are looking for people who are ready to meet his needs and foster his physical and mental growth and challenges. Then, Toni will surely develop into a great family member and loyal companion. Toni is looking for people who don't expect anything from him and show him how a normal dog life works. He is still a baby and has a lot to learn. Sometimes, a little mishap shouldn't be held against him, and he should always be guided with a positive reinforcement training style. He is already looking forward to his new life with beautiful nature walks, many snuggling hours, and also a visit to puppy school. Puppies should not be left alone as much as possible in their first year. Additionally, the more demanding teenage years are approaching. The hormone chaos turns the lives of little rascals and often their owners upside down. They "forget" most of what they have learned, and their ears are on high alert. Therefore, it is especially important in this phase to train consistently but lovingly. And there is also good news: This phase will pass! Toni travels microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and treated for fleas. He would also be happy to stay in a foster home. Thank you, Eric, for giving Toni his name and thus his identity. Stand: 16.06.2025

About Toni

What life with Toni looks like

Toni is a large puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Toni, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Toni?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Toni on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Toni if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Toni already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Toni isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Toni and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
