adoption requirements adoption process Now request this animal! adoption requirements adoption process Now request this dog! Tonia has found her home! Her story: Unfortunately, the shy Tonia has been overlooked so far, but she is an incredibly loving and gentle female dog. She is often still a bit reserved – of course, after not having much to look forward to so far – but she always gathers up all her courage and wants to trust so much. She has actually passed the kitten test with no problems. She is simply loving – and nothing more than to be loved. Tonia is a very gentle and sensitive female dog. With a shoulder height of about 45 cm and a weight of around 12 kg, she is rather delicate, but a big treasure nonetheless. She is about 4.5 years old. Tonia is increasingly enjoying being stroked and picked up. Her shyness does not come from fear, but from insecurity and lack of experience. Tonia was found with her puppies, Priya, Aston, and Barish, in a forest area and brought to our shelter in Fantanele. Although she is in safety and well cared for there, of course, the warmth and security of a real home cannot be fully replaced. For Tonia, we wish that she can first settle in in peace, without pressure and without high expectations. People who give her time, provide her with security, and show her step by step how wonderful life can be. She still has much to learn: a soft dog bed, stable routines, closeness, and the feeling of truly belonging. Walks, playing together, and simply spending time together will surely help her to build more trust. She is friendly and compatible with other dogs; a sovereign only dog can already live in the household. She also gets along well with cats. After positive experiences, Tonia has not had much of a life to look forward to so far – so we wish her now a loving home or a foster home that will enable her to start a new life. Many thanks, Susann G., for taking on her namingship. A big thank you also goes to Cornelia O., who has taken on a monthly patrimony for Tonia. As of: 25.01. This animal is vaccinated. This animal is microchipped.

Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt dieses Tier anfragen! Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt diesen Hund anfragen! Stand: 25.01.2026

About Tonia

What life with Tonia looks like

Tonia is a medium-sized adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Tonia, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Tonia?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Tonia on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Tonia if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Tonia already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Tonia isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Tonia and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
