Tonia

Mixed Breed · Female · Puppy · 2 months

Tonia and her sister Sari had a lot of luck in their early lives. They were only a few weeks old when they were abandoned not far from Anca's home. Anca found the little puppies and immediately brought them to safety. She knows who abandoned them and has reported the incident. Today, the most important thing for Tonia and Sari is to be safe and grow up in a protected environment. Currently, the two sisters live in a Romanian foster home. They are lovingly cared for and grow up together with other dogs, cats, and a child. This way, they already get to know different two- and four-legged friends and collect important experiences for their later life. Tonia is about two months old and will probably grow to be small to medium-sized. Her mom is a purebred Beagle. Unfortunately, we don't know anything about her dad. Tonia is a charming little dog. Her short fur is mostly black and is interrupted by pretty brown and white patterns. Her droopy ears, which are still a bit too big for her small head, give her a particularly cute puppy look. Tonia is a cheerful, open-minded, and friendly little dog. As is typical for a puppy her age, she is curious about everything that happens around her. She likes to play, explore her surroundings, and of course, still has a lot of nonsense in her head. Tonia gets along well with other dogs. Cats are also part of her daily life now. In general, she is friendly to them - but she hasn't quite understood yet that cats are not automatically playmates. If a cat runs off, it can happen that Tonia enthusiastically chases after it. It's clear that she wants to play and not has hunting intentions. Nevertheless, she is naturally very pushy as a puppy and still needs to learn to respect the boundaries of the cats. Tonia can still learn such things in her foster home. She is just at the beginning of her life and still has to figure out how to live with others. Tonia's mom is a purebred Beagle. Therefore, some typical Beagle characteristics may show up in Tonia. Beagles are usually friendly, cheerful, and social dogs. They are curious, playful, and often very people-oriented. At the same time, they are active dogs that need occupation and movement and like to explore their surroundings with their excellent nose. It should not be forgotten that Beagles were originally bred as hunting dogs. An exciting scent trail can therefore exert a great fascination. Many Beagles are also independent and can have their own minds. Consistency should therefore always be loving and fair - and occupation for body and mind belongs to a happy Beagle life. How much of this Tonia will actually bring later can't be said with a young puppy like this. She is still in the middle of her development and will show her own character little by little. We wish Tonia people who have fun with a young, curious dog and know that the puppy time is not just about cuddling. Tonia wants to discover the world, learn, play, and grow up with her people. She needs patient people who show her lovingly boundaries and step by step introduce her to life as a family dog. Tonia brings the best conditions to grow into a great companion - now she just needs the right home. After a positive pre-check and against a deposit, Tonia can be chipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and flea-free with an EU pet passport in her new home. Thank you to Susann G.! You gave Tonia her name and thus an identity. Status: 27.09.2026

Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt dieses Tier anfragen! Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt diesen Hund anfragen! Vielen Dank an Susann G.! About Tonia

What life with Tonia looks like

Tonia is a large puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Tonia, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Tonia?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Tonia on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Tonia if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Tonia already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Tonia isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Tonia and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
