How do I contact the shelter about Tonton?

Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. SPA du Dauphine handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Tonton on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.

Can I adopt Tonton if I live in another country?

Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — SPA du Dauphine will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.

Is Tonton already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?

Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.

What happens if Tonton isn't the right fit?

Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with SPA du Dauphine early rather than rehoming privately; they know Tonton and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.

Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?

TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (FR). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.

Uncle is an adorable 11-year-old senior dog, affectionate and close to humans, who is now looking for a family that is well-suited to his needs. We are looking for adopters who already have good experience with dogs, can understand his signals, respect his limits, and are ready to invest in him to offer him a secure and suitable environment. Uncle is an endearing dog who still has a lot to offer. He will need a family that is available, invested, and aware that a successful adoption also requires time, patience, and a good understanding of his behavior. If he lives in a house, the yard must be very well fenced, as Uncle may have a tendency to run away. At 11 years old, he deserves to find stability and end his life surrounded, understood, and loved. Thanks to the 30 Million Friends Foundation's Operation Elders, Uncle benefits from a grant of up to €1,000 for certain veterinary expenses during his adoption, depending on the conditions of the program. We are therefore looking for a serious, experienced family that is ready to commit to his side to offer him a peaceful retirement.

About Tonton

What life with Tonton looks like

Tonton is a senior dog waiting at SPA du Dauphine in Grenoble.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇫🇷Adopting from France

French refuges follow the SPA framework: adopters sign a cession contract that includes sterilization, vaccinations, microchip identification, and rabies passport. Fees are typically €150–€300. Many refuges work with rescue transport partners for cross-border placements.
