Adopt Tony

Mixed Breed · Male · Adult · 4 years

A handsome guy (okay, medium-sized) with about 40-45 cm and athletic 14-16 kg, just right for the sofa AND adventures. I was found, just like that. Luckily, by a kind animal rescuer where I'm staying for now. But honestly: I’d love my own home. With my person. Just my person. I’m quite an attached type. And yes, I admit it, I don’t share my person too well. I’m a bit jealous. That's why I'd be happiest as the only prince. Other dogs are fine, as long as they’re not overly hyper (sorry, you’re just too hectic for me). Cats? No thanks. Really not. Here’s what else you should know about me: I’m about 4 years old, so I’m in my prime! Not a wild puppy anymore, but still full of energy for beautiful walks, shared adventures, and lots of cuddling. Health-wise, I come with a small “extra”: I’m leishmaniasis-positive, but with a very low titer (1:160). This means I currently have no restrictions. The important thing is that my person keeps an eye on this and pays attention to a suitable diet and regular check-ups. I promise you: With a little attention, I’m a completely normal, joyful companion. So... are you looking for a loyal companion who loves you, follows you, and makes your life a bit warmer? Then I might just be your dog. Upon arrival, I will be vaccinated, microchipped, dewormed, and have my EU pet passport.

Katzen? Nein danke.

About Tony

What life with Tony looks like

Tony is a adult mixed breed dog waiting at Aktion Tierisch Happy e.V. in Germany.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Tony, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Tony?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Aktion Tierisch Happy e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Tony on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Tony if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Aktion Tierisch Happy e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Tony already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Tony isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Aktion Tierisch Happy e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Tony and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
