In the shelter since: June 2026 Estimated age: born around March 2026 Estimated final shoulder height: approx. 40–59 cm Earliest possible departure date: July 28th Meet the DOG'S NAME right in the video! Little Torin is looking for his big love! This furry friend was rescued from a kill shelter together with his sister Mellow. The two of them were huddled in a corner with two other puppies, warming each other up. For more information on how dogs end up in shelters and answers to general questions, check out our animal welfare FAQ. Torin is an energetic, lively puppy who actively seeks close contact with people. He happily jumps up to greet them, loves being petted, and stays calm when picked up. As soon as he’s back on the ground, however, he immediately wants to keep playing and likes to be the center of attention. At the moment, Torin displays very exuberant and excited behavior. He constantly seeks attention, barks a lot, and stands out due to his high level of excitement. Even when interacting with other puppies, he’s very spirited and always wants to join in, occasionally causing some unrest within the group. His character will continue to develop over the coming weeks and months; at this stage, only the beginnings are visible. If you’d like to learn more about this furry friend, feel free to write to our adoption team. We’re looking for an experienced home for Torin—people who enjoy helping a young dog develop impulse control through consistent, calm training and plenty of rest periods. A structured daily routine will help him find calmness. Puppies shouldn’t have to grow up in a shelter. That’s why we’re urgently seeking a loving home or an experienced foster home for this little furball—a place where he can explore the world, build trust, and simply be a puppy. Anyone adopting a puppy should be aware of how demanding life with a young dog can be: As soon as potty training is complete, the “wild teenage years” often begin—full of energy, uncertainties, and new challenges. The first few years of life are an exciting journey that humans and dogs take together—with highs, lows, and countless learning moments. We’re looking for people with patience, empathy, and perseverance for this furry friend—and with an understanding that rescue dogs often already have a certain history behind them. It’s never entirely predictable how they’ll react to their new life in Germany. But one thing is certain: Whoever adopts instead of buying not only gives an animal a second chance but also actively chooses to stand against animal suffering—and to live alongside a truly special companion. Already smitten? Send us a self-disclosure form! Adoption If you’re considering adoption, please read through our first. All dogs are vaccinated, microchipped, dewormed, flea-treated, and spayed or neutered before leaving the shelter (with the exception of puppies under 6 months and very senior dogs). Dogs older than one year are also tested for Mediterranean diseases. If you still have questions, feel free to send a message to our adoption team.

About Torin

What life with Torin looks like

Torin is a large puppy mixed breed dog waiting at Hunderettung Europa e.V. in Duisburg.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Dogs and cats typically leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with an EU pet passport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Torin, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Torin?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Hunderettung Europa e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Torin on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Torin if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Hunderettung Europa e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Torin already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Torin isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Hunderettung Europa e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Torin and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
