Adopt Tost

Mixed Breed · Male · Adult · 7 years

Tost, a dog born in July 2019. Tost is a very well-mannered and quiet little dog. Currently weighing a bit over 11 kilograms, this weight is optimal for him. He arrived in pretty good condition and has not caused any problems since his arrival at the animal shelter. He even enjoyed the smallest gesture towards him and was very eager to be friendly to the caretakers. He delighted in every touch, every scratch behind the ears, and every pat. He cooperates very well in every situation. Tost never complained and always accepted everything with optimism. He practically doesn't bark at all and doesn't destroy anything. Moreover, he tries to maintain cleanliness and waits for a walk to attend to his needs. He knows how to walk on a leash, and it must be admitted that he does it very well. He had already been left with other dogs in a play area, and so far, he has behaved very politely and has not started any fights. We do not know his current relationship with cats, but we can eventually check that. Tost has a calm disposition and is not overly active. He prefers decided slow walks and lounging. He could certainly be a good companion for watching TV. We would definitely like to see him in a home where he could occasionally go out to the backyard. This unassuming little dog is practically ideal and should find a home with any family.

Tost, pies urodzony w lipcu 2019r. Zdecydowanie polecamy go do adopcji i zapraszamy do kontaktu. Tost jest odrobaczony, zaszczepiony, odpchlony, zaczipowany i wykastrowany.

About Tost

What life with Tost looks like

Tost is a adult mixed breed dog waiting at Schronisko Janik (Ostrowiec Świętokrzyski) in Poland.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Tost, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Tost?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Schronisko Janik (Ostrowiec Świętokrzyski) handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Tost on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Tost if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Schronisko Janik (Ostrowiec Świętokrzyski) will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Tost already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Tost isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Schronisko Janik (Ostrowiec Świętokrzyski) early rather than rehoming privately; they know Tost and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
