adoption requirements adoption process Adopt this animal now! adoption requirements adoption process Tove can stay forever! Her story: Our beautiful Tove is currently in a wonderful foster home, where she has already had the chance to learn and experience a lot. Tove is a charming female dog in her prime – full of energy and ready to tackle any challenge, having already proven her capabilities. She has now adapted to daily life despite initial insecurities and can stay alone for hours if she feels comfortable. Taking her to the office is also no problem. She now masters driving a car really well and willingly jumps into the trunk. She also gets along well with her canine companions, but she is usually open to other dogs as well. However, if it doesn’t suit her, she can also become a bit grumpy. Tove loves water and enjoys every free moment in nature. She loves going for walks and exploring the environment. Along with all the positive traits she brings, Tove also sometimes pushes her foster home to their limits. She fiercely defends things she wants or that she loves. She can also go forward to assert her will. We suspect that her herding dog genes are dormant and may occasionally come to the fore. That’s why we are looking for experienced people who can offer Tove a loving and secure upbringing. She feels comfortable in a rural environment and benefits from the presence of a fellow animal. Working with a positively operating dog training class could certainly help her to gain control over her resource issues. Tove was rescued from a public animal shelter in Zalău. What stresses and experiences she had to endure there, we can only imagine. What we do know for sure is that Tove has not lost her spirit. Tove is neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and treated for fleas. She has an EU pet passport and can be adopted after a positive home check. Many thanks to Smilla for the lovely name and the chance for Tove to start a new life! A big thank you also goes to Marena D.-W., Anna P., and Dirk-Andre K., who each took on a monthly sponsorship for Tove. As of: 18.07.

Stand: 18.07.2025

About Tove

What life with Tove looks like

Tove is a large adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Tove, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Tove?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Tove on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Tove if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Tove already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Tove isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Tove and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
