Travis

Mixed Breed · Male · Adult · 7 years

History of Travis is about 8 years old and has a terrible past behind him. We received him from a "caregiver" interventionally - he looked like a skeleton on a three-meter chain. It turned out that when he started to go blind - he was then a 7-month-old puppy - the "caregiver" put a chain around his neck and tied him to a shed... And the dog remained like that. For the next few years, for the blind Travis, the whole world was a circle with a three-meter radius. He was fed only dry bread. The "caregiver" himself admitted that he was waiting for the dog to die. Travis came to us and is only now learning normal life - which is very difficult because of his blindness. Travis loves people and is wonderful and attached to his caregivers. The rest of the world seems terrifying to him; in fear, he can bite blindly and bite, although he certainly does not intend to. He doesn't get along with other dogs - also out of fear. He has problems with cleanliness and staying enclosed. Travis is currently one of the "non-adoptable" dogs - difficult, problematic dogs that people simply don't want. We know that finding a home for him will be almost a miracle. However, if someone is willing to decide on adoption of the guy or offer him a temporary home with full awareness of what it means, he is ready for long work - but also certainly great satisfaction - we will gladly talk about it. Travis is staying in a hotel near Raciborz.

PL·Show original

About Travis

What life with Travis looks like

Travis is a medium-sized adult mixed breed dog waiting at Fundacja Zwierzęca Polana in Warszawa.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Travis, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Travis?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Fundacja Zwierzęca Polana handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Travis on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Travis if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Fundacja Zwierzęca Polana will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Travis already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Travis isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Fundacja Zwierzęca Polana early rather than rehoming privately; they know Travis and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
