Triss

Mixed Breed · Female · Young · 2 years

Around 01.01.2024, female, neutered, suitable for apartment living / Freigang FIV & FeLV negativ Triss is a true gourmet. She prefers to be snuggled up on a scratching post or in a cozy dog bed, enjoying the peace and the sunbeams. She gets along well with other cats but usually shows a more quiet and reserved interest. With people, she is still cautious but opens up over time and begins to develop trust. Our 13 impounded cats only want to move out together or be rehomed to an already existing cat that matches their personality—calm, relaxed, and very social. Many of them often hide when there are quick, loud, and hurried movements. Additionally, they are only rehomed to homes with larger, nearly adult children and not to small children. This cat needs outdoor access.

DE·Show original

About Triss

What life with Triss looks like

Triss is a young adult mixed breed cat waiting at Tierheim Speyer in Speyer.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Triss, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Triss?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim Speyer handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Triss on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Triss if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim Speyer will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Triss already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Triss isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim Speyer early rather than rehoming privately; they know Triss and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
