Trixi

Mixed Breed · Female

Special Features: FIP Fighter Hello, wonderful people! My name is Trixi—such a lovely name, isn’t it? My foster mom probably would have called me Lucky, because I survived only thanks to a good dose of luck! But she doesn’t want to constantly remind me of my past, and I actually really like the name Trixi, too. Like so many street cats, I was often chased by dogs. On that particular day, a high fence seemed like my salvation. The fence was huge—and so was my will to live. What I didn’t realize, though, was that there were also dogs living on the other side of the fence, on the property itself. The dogs barked so loudly that Nadia, who lives just a few houses down, noticed them. She rescued me from this hopeless situation, pulled me off the fence, and took me home with her. After Nadia took me in, I suddenly developed FIP—but thankfully, the treatment worked, and I’m feeling better than ever! I’ve also passed the observation period, so nothing stands in the way of my move now. I really love people and cuddle a lot; I also play with other cats, and right now I have access to a secure garden, which I really appreciate. Now I’m looking for a forever home. In my future forever home, I’ll definitely need companionship from another furry friend. If you don’t yet have a cat, I’d be happy to bring one of my friends along—cats who currently live with me at Nadia’s and are also looking for their own homes. After a positive pre-check and signing a protection contract, I could soon be on my way to you. When I travel to you, I’ll be microchipped, vaccinated (against feline herpesvirus, feline panleukopenia, and rabies), dewormed, and treated against parasites. Plus, I’ve already been neutered.

About Trixi

What life with Trixi looks like

Trixi is a extra-large adult mixed breed cat waiting at Seelenkatzen e.V. in Barsinghausen.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Trixi, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Trixi?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Seelenkatzen e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Trixi on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Trixi if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Seelenkatzen e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Trixi already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Trixi isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Seelenkatzen e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Trixi and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
