Trudi

Mixed Breed · Female · Senior · 18 years

Female Abgabetier/Wohnungshaltung Born 04/2008 EKH Neutered yes / [] no In shelter since 30.04.2026 ________________________ We test every cat via rapid test for FIV ("Cat Aids", info here!) and FeLV ("Cat Leukosis", info here!) and clarify the status. We inform here about the risk of FIP disease ("Belly inflammation"). ________________________ Trudi was given up to us at 18 years old due to personal reasons. Unfortunately, she had been under-treated by a veterinarian and had only experienced one emergency veterinary visit for vomiting - so we have done a blood test (kidney values borderline, pancreas slightly noticeable, but nothing dramatic), there was already known heart murmur since the last veterinary visit several years ago (all okay, "if this cat dies, it's not because of the heart") and there followed a dental sanitation, as Trudi had suffered from a really bad bite for a long time. Currently she lives on one of our foster homes (in Wetter) and can be visited after appointment (contact via animal shelter). Trudi is a charming, loving catomi, affectionate, but not pushy or demanding, uncomplicated, sociable and an absolute treasure who wants to make his humans very happy and will. Her home should be quiet, relaxed and peaceful and give her a lot of attention. She is looking for a place as a single cat and also without dogs or small children, in apartment keeping, preferably with balcony or a small, safe outdoor seat at the window. Trudi's health issues (see above) are all clarified and we hope that she will still have a beautiful, possibly trouble-free, happy time with her humans. We wish her very much to find a loving and caring home and then to have people by her side who love her very much. ________________________ (Stand 02.07.2026) (Click on the pictures to see them in full size!) The description reflects the current status, but we reserve the right for changes or new assessments. It can always happen that an animal shows itself differently here at the shelter as well as in a new home due to changed circumstances. Back to overview

About Trudi

What life with Trudi looks like

Trudi is a senior mixed breed cat waiting at Tierheim Marburg in Marburg.

Senior cats are the gentlest house guests: predictable, mostly silent, and grateful for a sunny windowsill. Older cats often have minor dental or kidney issues — keep an eye on water intake and weight. Many sleep eighteen hours a day and want no part of any drama.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Trudi, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Trudi?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim Marburg handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Trudi on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Trudi if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim Marburg will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Trudi already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Trudi isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim Marburg early rather than rehoming privately; they know Trudi and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
