Trueno

Mixed Breed · Male

Trueno is the first dog from the small organization "Asociación Protectora de Animales Canis y Felis" to appear on our adoption page, but he will certainly not be the last. His name means "Thunder," and perhaps Trueno will make a corresponding impact and move from our homepage to the Adopted Facebook group in no time, giving us amazing pictures of cuddling on the couch and happy play in the garden. Trueno was found in March this year in Jerez de la Frontera, where he was walking alone and weakened along a street. The approximately four-year-old (as of 07/2021) male dog was easily led by the animal protectors into the car and to the vet, he was simply grateful that help finally came. The treating doctor then found out that Trueno is actually a very healthy dog, who had probably not really been able to rest for a while, as he had developed a severe dermatitis due to parasites. After the first treatment for itching and inflammation, Trueno slept like a baby for many hours - and then quickly revealed his sunny disposition. Trueno is a real solo performer, as we often experience with our Bodegueros. He loves people and curiously joins the volunteers at the animal shelter to watch every task and play with hoses, shoes, and buckets at the right moment. He gets along great with his four-legged roommates and is happy about every visitor at our new partner's animal shelter. We don't know what story this lovable heartbreaker brings with him, but during the examinations it was found that someone must have shot the extremely friendly and loving dog. A bullet is still lodged under his skin in the area of the neck, but the veterinarian will remove this bad memory when Trueno is neutered. Our friendly sunshine is more than ready for a fresh start in a better life. Trueno is looking for an active, cheerful, and humorous family that shows him how wonderful it is to be a beloved pet. Our charmer likes children, would surely be the friend of the entire neighborhood soon - and being as clever as he is, he could probably even become a star on the dog field (but would be just as happy with a career as a soccer player in his own garden!). Trueno is a cheerful guy, modest and happy, he doesn't have any special demands on his new owners, but simply wants affection, security, and the promise of lifelong friendship (note from Trueno: A ball and a really soft cuddle bed would also be great!).

DE·Show original

About Trueno

What life with Trueno looks like

Trueno is a small adult mixed breed dog waiting at Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. in Gernsbach.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Trueno, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Trueno?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Trueno on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Trueno if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Trueno already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Trueno isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Trueno and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
