Trufa

Mixed Breed · Female · Adult · 7 years

Trufa is a sweet, sensitive soul that loves being around her people. She has grown in confidence since being in foster care and enjoys going on her walks or sitting on a bench, watching the world go by. She loves a cuddle with her people and would love a nice space to snooze and sunbathe. Trufa is looking for a family to spoil her and a lap to curl up on. She absolutely loves human companionship and affection! She also loves treats, especially cheese, and seems to really enjoy a peaceful, relaxed home environment where she can sleep and feel safe. Her foster carers say that Trufa is an incredibly sweet, affectionate and gentle little dog. She’s house-trained, is very chilled at home, sleeps beautifully through the night and most of the day, walks calmly on the lead and is very happy spending most of her day relaxing. Trufa will make a wonderful companion! Meet Trufa, a 7-year-old Crossbreed who is currently living offsite with one of our foster carers. Trufa would benefit from a quieter and calmer home life, as she got quite overwhelmed and anxious with the young child in her previous home. She would benefit from having a safe space where she can retreat if she needs to. It is important she isn't disturbed when in this space and is left alone. Trufa has been comfortable meeting some dogs at the centre, so she may be able to live with a well-matched companion, ideally a more confident dog of a similar age to help build her confidence, pending meets at the centre. Trufa also has the potential to live with a cat (pending a scent swap), small furries and livestock. She could live with older secondary-aged children; visitors could be older primary and older, so long as they are supervised and will give Trufa space when needed. Her ideal adopters will be patient and gentle with her, giving her time to build a trusting relationship.

About Trufa

What life with Trufa looks like

Trufa is a small adult mixed breed dog waiting at Dogs Trust Harefield in Harefield.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Trufa, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Trufa?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Dogs Trust Harefield handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Trufa on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Trufa if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Dogs Trust Harefield will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Trufa already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Trufa isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Dogs Trust Harefield early rather than rehoming privately; they know Trufa and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
