Truffles

Mixed Breed · Male · Young · 1 year

Truffles is a young, energetic Caniche boy - a kind of a Spanish Waterdog. He has beautiful soft fur, that does require good maintenance, to remain in good condition, and of course that is very hard to do in a shelter environment… Truffles is coming to the shelter from the countryside, we don’t think he has lived inside a home before, but he learns very fast. As a teenage boy, he loves to run, play, jump around, especially when there is other dogs around, but also with his human - he invites you to play with him, and he is really curious too, for example your coffee cup? Very interesting! The insides of your pockets, also very interesting! Truffles loves people, he loves to say hi to volunteers, to go walking with families and to play with children. When a family is experienced and able to set boundaries for children and dogs both, then he would make an awesome dog for a family with children. He would also be very happy to join a household with another dog, which ideally would be either also a young, playful and energetic dog so they can spend the days running together, or an adult, who is patient but strict, and will teach Truffles boundaries in canine communication, because at the moment Truffles is all over the place, so excited when he gets to meet other dogs! Truffles is food-motivated, yes, but he doesn’t eat just everything, so for training programmes best to prepare the most delicious juicy snacks. Truffles is definitely a dog that is looking for a human that is interested in dog sports, engagement in dog training and sports will be a must to direct Truffles’ energy to a good direction. Canicross, nosework, agility, or a working position in a farm would be fantastic for Truffles. Though he loves to cuddle with you after a nice run & play, he is not really, at the moment, a sofa dog for an apartment, and we would really love to find a home with lots of outdoors activity for him. The insides of his new home should not have a lot of porcelain and glass around, as we suspect that at first he will be quite energetic also inside of his home, until he will find peace and balance. Truffles walks well on the leash, with an occasional zoomies and jumps of happiness. His shoulder height is 50cm.

About Truffles

What life with Truffles looks like

Truffles is a medium-sized young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Triple A Marbella in Marbella.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇪🇸Adopting from Spain

Spanish protectoras generally include sterilization, all vaccinations, microchip ID, and EU pet passport in the adoption fee (typically €250–€400 for a dog, €100–€180 for a cat). Many maintain partnerships with rescue transport providers across the EU.

Frequently asked

Adopting Truffles, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Truffles?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Triple A Marbella handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Truffles on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Truffles if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Triple A Marbella will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Truffles already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Truffles isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Triple A Marbella early rather than rehoming privately; they know Truffles and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
