Adopt Trufo

Mixed Breed · Unknown

I've been in the shelter for only a little while, but I've already made up my mind: to win them all over. And I think I've succeeded. Let's see if I can do the same with you and win the heart of that special person who'll give me a chance. They say I'm absolutely gorgeous (I don't say it myself, but they do… though they have a point), and also fun, affectionate, and very special. And the best part: I'm ready to start a new life. When I first arrived, I was a bit shy, looking at everything with care, wondering if that big world would be safe. I came from a place where socialization was sorely lacking, so some things still surprise me. But the beautiful thing is just that: every day I discover something new, and every day I get a little braver. In very little time, I'm a different dog. I play, run, enjoy myself, seek affection, learn new things, throw myself into adventures, and get excited about anything. I have a contagious joy and a huge desire to live everything I didn't know before. With other dogs, I get along quite well, I like their company, and I learn a lot by observing them, but the truth is that, sometimes, I still get a little scared of the unknown, which I'm learning to manage better every day. I'm discovering that the world is much bigger, prettier, and friendlier than I thought, and that fills me with hope. I'm looking for a family that wants to discover the world with me, step by step, without rushing, celebrating every small advance and every big achievement. I promise laughter, games, genuine love, and infinite loyalty. Will you join me on this adventure? Call, ask, adopt:

Llama, pregunta, adopta:

About Trufo

What life with Trufo looks like

Trufo is a large adult mixed breed dog waiting at Aloia Protectora in Tui.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇪🇸Adopting from Spain

Spanish protectoras generally include sterilization, all vaccinations, microchip ID, and EU pet passport in the adoption fee (typically €250–€400 for a dog, €100–€180 for a cat). Many maintain partnerships with rescue transport providers across the EU.

Frequently asked

Adopting Trufo, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Trufo?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Aloia Protectora handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Trufo on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Trufo if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Aloia Protectora will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Trufo already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Trufo isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Aloia Protectora early rather than rehoming privately; they know Trufo and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (ES). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
