Tuffy

adoption requirements adoption process Now request this animal! Tuffy has already found her Forever Home! Her story: May we introduce her? Tuffy, a small Bichon-Mix-female dog, delicate, sweet, and with a gaze that directly touches the heart. She was taken in by animal rescuer Ana in Bistrița – how her life began, we unfortunately do not know. But her calm, cautious nature hints that Tuffy has not had much good in her life so far. That is why it is now more important than ever that she finds people who will give her security, safety, and love. In the foster home, Tuffy shows herself to be loving, gentle, and very people-oriented. She seeks proximity, wants to be liked, and is heavily oriented towards familiar people. At the same time, she is still unsure, especially in new situations, and needs people who will give her time to discover the world at her own pace. At six months old, Tuffy is in the middle of the puppy phase – and puberty is just around the corner. This means: She still needs to learn the complete puppy ABC. This includes house training, leash walking, being alone, rules, routines, and most importantly, trust in everyday life. For sensitive dogs like Tuffy, a positively oriented dog training class is a gift, where she can learn to become more secure and simultaneously build a good bond with her people. As a small Bichon-Mix, Tuffy will fit well into a home that likes to be cozy but still enjoys short walks, play moments, and shared mental stimulation. She is perfect for people who are looking for a loving companion that can be "taken to the heart" – not overwhelmed, but nurtured with patience and warmth. With fellow animals, she shows a friendly side; regarding cats, we have no confirmed information, but given her gentle nature, a slow acclimation is likely. Tuffy is microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and flea-treated. She brings her EU Companion Animal Card and is ready to go home after a positive assessment. A heartfelt thank you goes to Anja, who gave Tuffy a piece of identity and hope with her name. Who will show this little fluff princess how beautiful life can be and take Tuffy into their heart forever?

About Tuffy

What life with Tuffy looks like

Tuffy is a small puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Tuffy, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Tuffy?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Tuffy on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Tuffy if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Tuffy already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Tuffy isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Tuffy and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
