Tura

Mixed Breed · Unknown

Tura is one of those dogs whose story may seem unremarkable at first glance - and which you have to get to know to understand how much she has to offer. Tura was rescued from a water tank. She was well cared for, but had no microchip. Despite all efforts, her owner could not be found. Nobody came to look for her, so Tura stayed at ADA Canals. Tura is a Rottweiler mix. Rottweilers are powerful, intelligent and confident dogs that can be closely attached to their humans. They are often attentive and vigilant and have a natural protective instinct. At the same time, they are very sensitive and can react sensitively to people and their behavior in situations that are uncertain for them. Therefore, it is particularly important with a Rottweiler mix to calmly and clearly convey boundaries and give her security, rather than working with pressure. When she came to us, she was initially cautious around people. She seemed uncertain in some situations and we were quite concerned about overwhelming her. Nevertheless, Tura has repeatedly shown that she trusts people when you approach her calmly and with the necessary sensitivity. She let herself be helped. She got into the car all by herself. She let her injured paws be treated and even let her burned paws be treated patiently. Because Tura had burned her paws on a hot plane. She also bravely survived that. With the people she knows, Tura is an incredibly loving dog. She has never shown a bad gesture with us. She can also get to know new people who approach her calmly and respectfully without reacting aggressively. How well Tura can deal with new people was shown recently: Jenny came to visit in the summer with her family. All were new to Tura - and yet she showed no bad gesture. She has also never shown problematic behavior with new volunteer helpers.

About Tura

What life with Tura looks like

Tura is a large adult mixed breed dog waiting at Tierschutzverein Europa in München.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Tura, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Tura?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzverein Europa handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Tura on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Tura if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzverein Europa will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Tura already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Tura isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzverein Europa early rather than rehoming privately; they know Tura and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
