Turrón

Mixed Breed · Male

Turrón ID No.: 1042355 Breed: mixed breed Age: approx. 03/2023 Sex: male Shoulder height: approx. 73 cm Neutered: Yes Location: Marbella (Spain) Inquiry form Turrón – Beautiful Mastín looking for loving people Turrón (*approx. 03/2023, approx. 73 cm) is one of the dogs rescued from a Perrera in inland Spain. Behind his impressive, majestic appearance lies a typical livestock guardian dog: loyal and sensitive toward his trusted people, yet vigilant and strong-willed when it comes to strangers. Although Turrón is a pleasant companion on walks for the volunteers at the animal shelter, he is nonetheless a true livestock guardian at heart. It is expected that Turrón will display territorial behavior in his new home and, true to his breed, guard his property and his people—that’s simply in his blood. At the animal shelter, he is visibly overwhelmed by the constant commotion. He urgently needs a place where he can find peace and not constantly feel like he has to be on duty. Turrón shows a clear preference and takes significantly longer to build trust with men. In the presence of women, he is usually relaxed, but remains distant toward men for a longer period. He does not actively seek contact with them and tends to stay close to his familiar (female) primary caregiver. A household with a single man would likely be very challenging for Turrón. In a mixed-gender household (man/woman), he strongly bonds with the woman, while the man must invest considerable patience and sensitivity to earn his trust. Due to his size and protective instincts, Turrón will only be rehomed into a child-free household. We are looking for people experienced with livestock guardian dogs who can appropriately channel his guarding instincts and provide him with the security he needs to relinquish responsibility. A rural home with a securely fenced garden or property is essential for this majestic dog. Turrón is a loyal companion for those familiar with this breed who appreciate his clear communication and proud character. Turrón is neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, and holds an EU pet passport. For travel arrangements, he has been tested for Mediterranean diseases and has been dewormed and treated for fleas. Vaccinations: Yes Mediterranean check: Yes Microchip: Yes Diseases: None known Contact person: Larissa Spoerl Tel: Email:.

About Turrón

What life with Turrón looks like

Turrón is a adult mixed breed dog waiting at Helfende Hände e.V. in Germany.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Turrón, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Turrón?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Helfende Hände e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Turrón on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Turrón if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Helfende Hände e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Turrón already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Turrón isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Helfende Hände e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Turrón and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
