Tux

Mixed Breed · Male · Kitten · 6 months

by Cattery | Jun 23, 2026 | Cats, Liverpool, Male, Cats, Liverpool, Male This fabulous young boy is just 6 months old and found himself in rescue after being handed into a vet practice as a stray. Tux is extremely loving and playful, and very cofident, so has the potential to make a great family cat, where he can get lots of playtime and stimulation. He may be a little too full on to live with very small children, but should be fine with older sensible children, and we feel he could live with another playful cat, or a cat savvy dog. Exclusive merchandise available direct from the rescue. Don't miss out, follow the link to make your purchase today. this gorgeous boy is more of a sleek house panther than a tiger. He is big and beautiful, and has the roundest, chubbiest cheeks you have ever seen. Tiger is a quiet boy, and does take some time to trust, but with a bit of patience and understanding, he could become your best friend. He will need a quieter home with no young children, but older, sensible children should be fine, and probably would not like to live with a dog. He previously lived with another cat, so provided introductions are done slowly and carefully, he should be able to again. He has been neutered, and fully vaccinated, and has tested negative for fiv/felv. Exclusive merchandise available direct from the rescue. Don't miss out, follow the link to make your purchase today.

About Tux

What life with Tux looks like

Tux is a large puppy/kitten mixed breed cat waiting at Freshfields Animal Rescue in Liverpool.

Kittens are tiny chaos engines for about six months and then mellow rapidly. They need two scheduled feedings, a litter box per cat plus one extra, and somewhere high to climb. Spay/neuter happens around six months — most shelters arrange this before adoption.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Tux, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Tux?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Freshfields Animal Rescue handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Tux on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Tux if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Freshfields Animal Rescue will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Tux already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Tux isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Freshfields Animal Rescue early rather than rehoming privately; they know Tux and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
