Twinkle

Greyhound · Female · Adult · 4 years

Twinkle is a beautiful Greyhound with a calm and gentle nature, along with a wonderfully cheeky side that makes her great fun to be around. She walks beautifully on lead and enjoys getting out and about for her daily adventures. When she has the opportunity to safely stretch her legs, Twinkle loves to let loose with some playful zoomies. As she settles into home life, Twinkle will need patient and steady introductions to household sounds and unfamiliar objects. With a little reassurance and guidance, she is sure to continue growing in confidence and embracing all the comforts that family life has to offer. Twinkle is incredibly friendly and enjoys meeting everyone she comes across. She loves attention and will happily soak up plenty of fuss and affection. Twinkle does struggle to greet other dogs and is worried in their company, especially if they are very animated or small, fast moving dogs. She is not a dog who will enjoy lots of dog company and would just enjoy quieter, calmer walks where she can have her own space. Twinkle is looking for a home with a private, secure garden where she can safely enjoy a run around and indulge in her favourite zoomies before returning indoors for a well-earned snooze. If you're looking for a sweet, affectionate Greyhound who is equal parts gentle companion and playful character and would like to know more about Twinkle, or any of our other Greyhounds, please contact us. If you have already completed our online rehoming form, you can e-mail our rehoming team on to register your interest. We ask every customer to first complete our online rehoming application form, so if you have not filled in our form yet you can find the details on how to do so here;

About Twinkle

What life with Twinkle looks like

Twinkle is a large adult greyhound dog waiting at Battersea Dogs & Cats Home in London.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Twinkle, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Twinkle?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Battersea Dogs & Cats Home handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Twinkle on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Twinkle if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Battersea Dogs & Cats Home will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Twinkle already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Twinkle isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Battersea Dogs & Cats Home early rather than rehoming privately; they know Twinkle and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
