Tymianek

Mixed Breed · Male · Adult · 4 years

Tymianek, a dog born in June 2022. Tymianek is a young, very happy, and energetic little dog. His beginnings at the animal shelter weren't easy, but that period is long behind him. Once he was closed off, distant, and scared. Now he seeks contact with everyone and is an incredibly happy, positively disposed to everything gentleman. He very much loved his foster parents and campaigned for their attention. On the play area, he stays close to a person, runs over to be petted, and wanders around to catch attention. The greatest joy for him is being carried around where he can snuggle up to the caregiver, but even scratching behind the ears makes him emit sounds of contentment and enjoy himself. Initially, Tymianek didn't like the presence of other dogs, would run from them, and showed his teeth. Over time, he learned that he is safe with them, can play with them, and finally began to enjoy the presence of other dogs on the play area. He even has his favorite buddies with whom he likes to spend free time. Due to the fact that Tymianek has a huge youthful energy within him, he must have ensured frequent playtime on the play area where he can run wild. He is such a quick-witted one that he almost never sits still, making it almost the hardest task to take his pictures. While Tymianek is docile and trusting with people he knows well, he still keeps a distance with strangers. We were most convinced of this when Tymianek arrived at adoption. Unfortunately, on the backyard in the new home, he was strongly scared, wouldn't be caught, and just ran around the backyard hiding behind bushes. The temporary owners couldn't handle the situation, and Tymianek unfortunately returned to the animal shelter, which, however, the dog was exceptionally happy about. It's clear that he had become very accustomed to the shelter home and bonded with the caregivers. He simply must get to know someone better before he trusts them. Therefore, it would be best if the adoption process involved a longer getting-to-know-you period with the new owner, even multiple visits from the pre-adoptive parent. If he gets to know the person, he will trust them over time, just as he trusts us. He is currently looking at his current foster parents like a "picture" and allows them to practically do anything. For someone wanting to take on the challenge, it's not too difficult, and if someone has any experience with dogs, patience, and time, they will surely be able to earn Tymianek's trust. The little dog currently weighs around 13 kilograms and has a very big appetite. One must be careful not to overfeed him as he can literally consume everything. This also makes it easy to win his heart with a tasty treat and convince him to be with you. Tymianek is currently in the process of learning to walk on a leash, but it's hard to say how long it will take. He definitely prefers being held in someone's arms, and there he feels the best. The little dog belongs to a fairly vocal breed of dogs and quickly lets you know what's happening or to get your attention. Tymianek has a very nice character and a great potential to become a wonderful, loyal, and family dog. He just needs to find the right people who will take him under their wings and give him a warm and loving home. He deserves the best and we have great hope that he will find his dream adoption. Tymianek is vaccinated, dewormed, vaccinated against rabies, and neutered.

Tymianek, pies urodzony w czerwcu 2022r. On po prostu zanim komuś zaufa musi go lepiej poznać. Trzeba uważać żeby go nie przekarmić bo potrafi dosłownie pochłaniać jedzonko. Sprawia to też że można go łatwo przekupić jakimś smaczkiem i w ten sposób przekonać go do siebie.

About Tymianek

What life with Tymianek looks like

Tymianek is a large adult mixed breed dog waiting at Schronisko Janik (Ostrowiec Świętokrzyski) in Poland.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Tymianek, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Tymianek?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Schronisko Janik (Ostrowiec Świętokrzyski) handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Tymianek on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Tymianek if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Schronisko Janik (Ostrowiec Świętokrzyski) will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Tymianek already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Tymianek isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Schronisko Janik (Ostrowiec Świętokrzyski) early rather than rehoming privately; they know Tymianek and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
