Tyra

Mixed Breed · Female · Adult · 5 years

Temperament: friendly Tyra has not had the best start in life and often finds the world to be a big and, at times, overwhelming place. Her experience of life outside the shelter enclosure, as well as her interactions with people, has been very limited, making her uncertain in new situations. Despite this, Tyra has a clear desire to become braver, something she shows when she is in environments where she feels safe. In calm and predictable surroundings, she is able to relax and take small but courageous steps forward. Although Tyra has had little exposure to people, she is kind by nature and allows herself to be gently handled and cared for. However, she needs time to develop genuine trust and confidence. We are looking for a calm, experienced family with previous experience of shy or fearful dogs—people who have the patience, knowledge, and time to let Tyra grow at her own pace. For Tyra, every small step forward is a great achievement, and earning her trust requires consistency, understanding, and a gentle approach. She needs a family that can guide her through life and help her discover that the world is not something to fear, but a place full of wonderful experiences. Tyra dreams of long walks in peaceful surroundings, spending time exploring safely in a secure garden or exercise area, and ending each day resting comfortably close to her family. Tyra gets along well with other dogs and could happily live with a confident canine companion who can help her feel more secure. She could also thrive as an only dog, provided her need for stability, patience, and a safe environment is fully met. Observations: Unsure of the world Preferences: a family dedicated to her needs Available adoption in: UK, Sweden

About Tyra

What life with Tyra looks like

Tyra is a medium-sized adult mixed breed dog waiting at ROLDA in Galati.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇷🇴Adopting from Romania

Romanian rescues handle the highest volume of cross-border adoptions in the EU. Animals are quarantined and fully vetted before transport. Reputable rescues maintain detailed health records and post-adoption follow-up.

Frequently asked

Adopting Tyra, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Tyra?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. ROLDA handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Tyra on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Tyra if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — ROLDA will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Tyra already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Tyra isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with ROLDA early rather than rehoming privately; they know Tyra and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
