Tyson

Mixed Breed · Male · Young · 2 years

Tyson – a little scaredy-cat with a big heart. Tyson—though his name sounds strong and fearless—actually turns out to be a sweet little scaredy-cat with an XXL-sized fur coat. Born around August 2024, Tyson has so far observed life from a safe distance—careful, quiet, and always ready to flee at the slightest hint of danger. But when it comes to eating, his appetite trumps his fear—and then, just for a brief moment, you can touch him a little bit. A tiny bit of courage, a tiny bit of closeness, and whoosh—he’s already disappeared again. Typical Tyson, indeed! Yet there’s so much more hidden inside this fluffy little cat’s heart—he just needs time, patience, and people who don’t expect anything from him but simply show him: “You’re allowed to be here—on your own terms, exactly as you are.” Tyson gets along well with other cats—a confident companion could help him feel secure more quickly. What’s absolutely essential for him, though, is outdoor access. Outdoors, he feels safer; he can observe his surroundings, hide when he wants, and maybe even bravely embark on little adventures. Tyson isn’t the type of cat who’ll come running up to you. But he’s one of those cats you grow to love precisely because they take their time. And when, someday, he finally approaches you on his own, that’s truly a magical moment. Here’s an overview of Tyson: — Born: around August 2024 — Personality: very anxious, only allows brief touches when eating — Special features: needs lots of patience, develops at his own pace — Social behavior: gets along well with other cats — Ideal home: with outdoor access, in a calm, understanding environment — Located at the Osterburg cat shelter Tyson isn’t looking for quick petting sessions—but rather a safe haven where he can simply be himself. Who will give him exactly that kind of place?

Wer schenkt ihm genau diesen Platz?

About Tyson

What life with Tyson looks like

Tyson is a extra-large young adult mixed breed cat waiting at Tierheim Stendal in Stendal.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Tyson, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Tyson?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim Stendal handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Tyson on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Tyson if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim Stendal will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Tyson already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Tyson isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim Stendal early rather than rehoming privately; they know Tyson and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
