Tyson

Staffordshire Bull Terrier · Male · Senior · 8 years

Support and Health How much training will I need? Needs some support Can I be left alone? Potentially, once settled Tyson is used to being left home alone for short periods, but he can become unsettled if left for longer than a couple of hours. For this reason, we are looking for a home where Tyson won’t regularly need to be left alone for extended periods and where someone can be around for most of the day. Do I have any medical conditions? History of Tyson has previously been treated for an ear infection, which has now fully resolved. He has also had a dental procedure carried out at Woodgreen. Tyson was previously found to have an enlarged prostate. He has since been neutered, which should help to resolve this. This is something that will need to be taken into consideration when looking for his new home. Our rehoming team will be happy to provide further information about Tyson’s medical history if you apply to rehome him and are successfully matched. We always recommend discussing any previous or ongoing medical conditions with your own vet before taking your new pet home, to ensure you have a full understanding of their individual needs. Who I can live with Can I live with dogs? No Can I live with cats? Yes, conditionally - Tyson could live with dog savvy cats given a slow introduction. This is something we can advise you on. Can I live with small pets? Yes, conditionally - Tyson could live with securely housed small pets Additional information Tyson would be happiest as the only dog in the home. Tyson could have some nice walking buddies in his new home as he does enjoy being social with other dogs. Family and environment What kind of family am I looking for? Tyson has lived with children before and was a very tolerant gentleman. We feel he could live with children aged 8 years plus. What type of environment would suit me? As long as Tyson has regular opportunities to toilet and go for walks, it is not essential that he needs a garden. He is quite happy being inside with his people. About Tyson Meet Tyson, a large, lovable lap dog. He has heaps of love to give and a heart of gold. Being alone is quite scary for Tyson as he has grown up in a busy household so he is looking for a caring, patient home who will give him their time and company. Whilst Tyson understands that other dogs exist in the world, and is ok with this, he enjoys one on one time with his family so would prefer to be the only dog in the home so he can get all the love and attention! Tyson really is a family-orientated boy so would be happy living in a full house but would appreciate a home with older kids about who can play with him whilst still respecting his boundaries.

About Tyson

What life with Tyson looks like

Tyson is a large senior staffordshire bull terrier dog waiting at Woodgreen Pets Charity in United Kingdom.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Tyson, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Tyson?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Woodgreen Pets Charity handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Tyson on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Tyson if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Woodgreen Pets Charity will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Tyson already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Tyson isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Woodgreen Pets Charity early rather than rehoming privately; they know Tyson and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
